L: Almighty and loving God, we thank and bless you for the encouragement you have given us through teachers and mentors and witnesses of your love. We pray that as we lead worship today, you will use our words and actions to encourage others.

C: May this worship service truly enable us to sense our communion with all the people of God in every time and place— to the glory and praise of you alone. Amen

Call to and Prayer of Confession:

L: Eternal God, in every age you have raised up men and women to live and die in faith.

C: Forgive our indifference to your will.

L: You have commanded us to speak,

C: but we have been silent.

L: You have called us to do what is just,

C: but we have been fearful.

L: Have mercy on us, your faithless servants. Keep before us faithful people for us to follow so that, by the power of your Holy Spirit, we may grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to the praise of your holy name.

L: Christ alone is the source of all Christian ministry, through the ages calling men and women to serve. By the Holy Spirit, all who believe and are baptized receive a ministry to witness to Jesus as Savior and Lord, and to love and serve those with whom they live and work.

C: We are ambassadors for Christ, who reconciles and makes whole. We are the salt of the earth; we are the light of the world.

L: Following Christ’s resurrection and ascension, God has given the church apostles, prophets, and teachers, deeds of power, gifts of healing, forms of assistance and leadership.

Congregation: God of all grace, we bless and thank you for the call you have given to these your servants. We bless and thank you for the prompting of your Spirit which equips them to respond in faith. Continue to pour out your Spirit upon them. Bring forth in and through them the fruit of love, joy, and peace; patience, kindness, and goodness; faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Ministry Leaders: May this harvest of righteousness be multiplied in every ministry, every prayer, every opportunity for service to which you lead us. In Jesus name, Amen.
